Colour mess

Written by Angela, 28th Jul 2008

Despite saying earlier that I didn’t want a wedding planner, I’m starting to think that I might need one. Even a simple task like choosing the colour scheme is harder than it sounds!

As things stand right now, the flowers in the chapel are white or ivory, the table decorations are red, Alex will be wearing fuchsia or emerald, the cake is gold, Helen will be wearing yellow, the walls are peach, the carpets are green and pink

I didn’t notice the oddly coloured carpets when I was there – I only realised what they were like when our venue updated their website with a new gallery.

So, a wedding planner is visiting us next weekend and hopefully she will be able to turn all of this into something much prettier and more co-ordinated.

In previous posts, I was thinking ivory and gold and then lemon and mint.

Dinner at Araluen

Written by Angela, 25th Jul 2008

Tim and I had dinner at our venue, Araluen last night. Every few months, they invite all the couples due to get married for dinner to see what it’s like and to have a miniature dance lesson. It was a lot of fun, though we’d seriously need more lessons if we intend to do any waltzing at the wedding!

The venue: Araluen

Written by Angela, 03rd Apr 2008

Araluen Chapel

Tim and I researched potential venues online and considered everything from vineyards to beaches. We narrowed down our options to a shortlist of 3 and visited The Retreat at Wisemans, Curzon Hall, and Araluen. We chose Araluen, which Tim says “was in a different league to the others”.

Araluen is a beautiful house built in 1894. It’s in Epping, just 17km away from our house. On the same site is a purpose-built wedding chapel, so we can have the ceremony and reception in the same location. They will take care of the ceremony, flowers, food, drink, music, cake, and car!
